Departmental Vision

To impart knowledge and excellence in Civil Engineering and technology with global perspectives to our students and to make them ethically strong engineers to build our nation.

Departmental Mission

  • â–  M1: To produce Civil Engineers of high calibre, technical skills and ethical values to serve the society and nation.
  • â–  M2: To make the department a centre of excellence in the field of civil engineering and allied research.
  • â–  M3: To provide knowledge base and consultancy services to the community in all areas of civil engineering.

Programme Outcomes (POs):

  • PO1: Engineering Knowledge — Apply knowledge of mathematics, natural sciences, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to a wide range of practical procedures and practices. DK1 to DK4
  • PO2: Problem Analysis — Identify and analyze well-defined engineering problems and reach substantiated conclusions using codified methods of analysis specific to their field of activity. DK1 to DK4
  • PO3: Design/Development of Solutions — Design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist in the design of systems, components, or processes to meet specified needs, with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, as well as cultural, societal, and environmental factors. DK5
  • PO4: Investigation — Conduct investigations of well-defined problems by locating and searching relevant codes and catalogues, and by conducting standard tests and measurements. DK8
  • PO5: Modern Tool Usage — Apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern computing, engineering and IT tools to well-defined engineering problems, while being aware of their limitations. DK2 and DK6
  • PO6: The Engineer and Society — When solving well-defined engineering problems, evaluate sustainable development impacts to: society, the economy, sustainability, health and safety, legal frameworks, and the environment. DK1, DK5, and DK7
  • PO7: Ethics & Diversity — Understand and commit to professional ethics and the norms of technician practice, including compliance with relevant laws. Demonstrate an understanding of the need for diversity and inclusion. DK9

Civil Engineering discipline also calls for perfection in education, as the engineers are associated with design and planning of critical infrastructures. The academic activities are thus very carefully planned and the department emphasizes on deep understanding of fundamental principles, development of creative ability to handle the unique challenges of Civil Engineering. The department is equipped with the following well established laboratories: Concrete and Highway material testing, Environmental Engineering, Soil Mechanics, Structural Engineering, Irrigation, Hydraulics and Survey.

The department lays emphasis on educating and equipping students to manage the challenges of a professional engineering career. A step in this direction is the establishment of an Autodesk Institutional Training & Testing Centre for civil engineering students wherein the students are trained on various Autodesk training programs such as Autodesk AutoCAD civil 3D, etc. Students are also getting trained on other very useful softwares such as: structural design and analysis STAAD Pro and project management software Primavera etc.

Civil Engineering is the only omnipresent professional engineering discipline that deals with the state of the art Projects in construction and design of public and private sector works such as bridges, roads, dams and buildings. To get complete know-how of the above-mentioned projects, field visits to Public Works Department, DVC, Super Smelters, and Public Health Engineering are organized. Civil Engineering department maintains a fairly good placement record with nearly 70% to 80% students finding a job through campus placement even before completion of the degree. Companies like JSW, Tata Power, L&T, Supershakti, SS Solutions, ROCA, etc. have been queuing up to get our students to work for them. Our college is well set to provide excellent Diploma Civil Engineers well trained in all aspects of civil engineering and adequately prepared to be acceptable globally.
